BIOGRAPHY

Frank Nuderscher was born in St. Louis and studied art at Washington University in St. Louis. An early Nuderscher painting of the Eads Bridge gained him recognition at the 1904 World’s Fair. In the early 1910s, he began painting urban scenes in St. Louis and was adept at depicting foggy atmospheric skies. Along with industrial landscapes, Nuderscher also painted the areas surrounding the Ozarks and Arcadian Valley in Missouri as well as murals throughout the United States.
Nuderscher was the president of the Independent Artists of St. Louis and with Carl Krafft and Rudolph Ingerle, co-founded the Society of Ozark Painters. His work is included in the collections of the Missouri History Museum, Saint Louis Art Museum, the University of Missouri, the St. Louis Mercantile Library, and the St. Louis University Museum of Art among others.
